This is a product description for the Tweco® Spray Master® Series 450 A MIG Gun. The gun is designed to accommodate wires of size 0.045 - 1/16" and features a heavy-duty contact tip. It has an ergonomic handle design that helps reduce welder fatigue. The air-cooled MIG gun is ideal for spray and pulse welding applications and has a simplified direct rear plug for easy installation.
The 25' power cable offers good wire feedability and has a Tweco® style rear connection. With argon/CO2 gases, the MIG gun offers an 80% duty cycle and has the capacity to deliver under pressure. It is easy to repair and requires less maintenance. To enhance performance in high heat applications, it features a diffuser. The thick-walled, three-layer conductor tube provides higher electrical conductivity and acts as a heat sink.
The gun also features a heavy-duty thick-walled contact tip and diffuser, which increases tip life and decreases downtime with tip changes. It is balanced to pivot at the center of the handle, making it easier to use in different welding positions and reducing operator fatigue. The extended trigger length keeps the hand away from the arc, reducing radiated heat. The steel spring strain relief provides support to the Cablehoz® coming out the rear of the handle, minimizing wire feed issues.
For added convenience, there is an optional mechanical locking trigger with the "LC" Part No. suffix. The gun also has front and rear spring strain relief and cable support. Its compact, ergonomic handle design ensures comfortable usage. The durable metal jacketed conductor tube and patented extended life consumables contribute to its longevity.
The gun is field repairable, thanks to the split-half handle case that provides easy access for repairs. The mechanical cable connections for Cablehoz® spare trigger leads in Cablehoz® are also field repairable. The heavy wall conductor tube and front Cablehoz® connection (crimped) improve electrical conductivity and help lower heat in the handle and conductor tube.
Additionally, the gun's heavy-duty contact tip and diffuser enhance performance in high heat applications. It offers standard trigger on/off operation but also has optional dual schedule and locking trigger configurations. The gun is suitable for a wide range of welding applications, including spray transfer mode and pulse welding with straight CO2 or mixed gases.
Finally, one of the advantages of this gun is that it allows for interchangeable front end consumables between Tweco® classic no. Series and Tweco® spray master series, which can help reduce inventory carrying costs.
