The Tweco® 23 Series Self-Insulated Nozzle features a 0.625" bore size and is specifically designed for use with standard gas diffusers. It seamlessly strings into the conductor tube assembly for optimal performance. This heavy-duty welding tool has a 3.11" size with a 0.875" OD, making it suitable for welding applications up to 450 A.
For easy identification, the part number is rolled stamped on the outer surface of the nozzle. It is made of 122 DHP copper alloy and has a 9/16"-18 UNC-2B thread size, along with a flush contact tip relationship of 0.062". The design of the nozzle includes a 3-piece construction, consisting of a copper alloy tubing nozzle housing, a solid brass nozzle insert, and a silicone nozzle insulator for electrical insulation from the gas diffuser.
The nozzle insert allows for machining of internal threads to match the conductor tube OD threads, ensuring a secure fit. Each pack includes 2 nozzles. The 3-piece design eliminates the need for an additional insulator.
Different tip options are available to suit specific welding requirements. Recessed tips are ideal for higher heat applications, where a longer electrical stick-out is necessary or when the nozzle may come into contact with the workpiece (e.g., tack, spot, and stitch welding). Flush tips, on the other hand, are used when a shorter electrical stick-out is desired, resulting in a shorter and tighter arc length that brings the tip closer to the workpiece. Protruding tips are specifically designed for welding open root pipe and tight weld joints. However, caution must be taken with protruding tips, as there is a risk of arcing the tip to the workpiece, causing damage to the front end parts and requiring replacement, leading to downtime.
