The Tweco® Heavy Duty Contact Tip is designed to accommodate 5/64" wire and is compatible with 200 - 400 A Tweco® No.2, No.3, and No.4 MIG guns, as well as specific MIG gun series. This contact tip is specifically engineered for heavy duty welding applications up to 400 A, offering excellent electrical properties. It is easy to identify, thanks to the part number and wire diameter markings.
With a 1.47" length, 1/4"-28 UNF-2A thread size, 0.09" nominal ID, and 0.283" OD, this contact tip is constructed from extruded or gun-drilled 122 DHP copper alloy. The machining process ensures a consistent and smooth inside diameter surface, with a tolerance of +/-0.003". The threaded style ensures proper contact with the gas diffuser when installed to the MIG gun, and it is available in slip-on or thread-on nozzle styles with various bore sizes.
One of the standout features is its twist-lock mechanism, which securely locks the contact tip in place, providing enhanced electrical conductivity and increased surface contact between the contact tip and diffuser. This design also acts as a heat sink, effectively conducting heat away from the arc source. When the tip wear point is reached, simply twist it a quarter turn clockwise to expose a new wear point, effectively doubling the life of the tip.
